Are you happy today?
I found a book at my door on my way home. HAPPY HOUSE that I’ve interviewed a while ago has arrived.
In 2010, Lee Ok Sun who was eager to design hot fashion started Outstanding Ordinary. While this brand was in full swing, she happened to watch <Plastic China, Wang Jiu Liang, 2016> She took a decision to wind previous brand up and and launched OPEN PLAN pursing sustainable fashion. Because she was shocked that vinyl and plastic, which was thought to be recycled , were exported to neighbor countries, causing pain to people, indiscriminately buried and incinerated, destroying the environment. “Is the clothings we made really beautiful? what is beautiful and what is cool? She started to look for materials to replace plastics in all parts of polyester, plastic zipper, plastic button, and small plastic tag string. Finally, for 2020 SS Helsinki Fashion Week, they present plastic free 99% vegan collection. In order to avoid using animal materials, not only animal fabrics, such as fur, leather, wool, and silk, but also horn buttons and shell buttons are excluded. In particular, nut buttons, which are used major sub-material, do not need to be cut or picked in advance, as they get hard enough to be used for buttons only after they are fully ripe and fallen to the ground. Also they use botanical dyed fabric to minimize pollution. Regarding these limited materials, she said “Designing with limit is an opportunity to enhance our creativity, and that’s the role of design.” Also said “Fashion is a field that tells about beauty and coolness, and is it really worthwhile if we pretend not to know about bad impacts?” Her question makes us think a lot.
– HAPPY HOUSE, February 2020 –
Yes, I’m happy.
Waking morning up, I have breakfast. And read a book lightly. Lunch is nice and I design with singing along a music. After working, home yoga with youtube. Enjoy dinner prepared with all my heart and write few paragraphs for blog. Several minutes for favorite TV show and go to bed.
- JEONGWONSA (means GARDNER in Korean) JACKT, PYEONHWA (means PEACE in Korean) PANTS, and YEOWOOBEE (means SUNSHOWER in Korean) TEE
Appreciating my ordinary days
These days I’m listening to Bob Dylan again for our coming collection. And here I’m sharing one of his quotes. Happy day, friends!
Happiness is not on my list of priorities. I just deal with day-to-day things. If I’m happy, I’m happy… and I’m not, I don’t know the difference. Knowing that you are the person you were put on this earth to be… That’s much more important than just being happy.
